If anyone signs up to go to the Flower Garden Banks in the next few weeks I would like to know;
Lone Star Scuba in Fort Worth schedules trips on the MV Spree and MV Fling (or one of the other of those boat trips). It sounds like it would be such a great trip; but I'd like to get some input from someone who has done this trip before I commit. Do you find this valuable?

If you plan on going in the next few week be prepared for a little rough weather and cold water. the vis is ok and you might see a few hammerheads this is their mating time migration season, I have been on the fling and the crew was great but the boats have change there operations I do not believe the fling is in texas gulf right now I believe it is in the dry tortugas you might check, the boats have reduced the number of people they take at a time which is good no more waiting to dive or eating in shifts and now there is more than one bathroom. It will be a great dive enjoy. Do you find this valuable?

I have to concur that this time of year is a tough one for FG trips. The water is a bit cool, and the weather is so capricious that about half of the planned trips don't make (too rough). May, June and July are better bets. Unless plans changed, the Fling is about the only regular charter servicing the FG right now. It's "sister" craft, the MV Spree, has shifted its operation to the Dry Tortugas completely.
The FG is one of my favorite sites, and the Fling crew does a great job. Their FAQ on their website pretty well tells it like it is, but if you have any questions or just want to chat about the FG experience, just let me know. I have a tendancy to talk it up quite a bit, though. (I'm a fan.) Hope you have a great trip out there...just wish I could go!

I don't have any time specifically in mind, but just wanted to know the best time including visibility, of course, to go.
I knew about the Fling vs. Spree and have browsed the website. Would be nice to know someone that was making the trip.
